Question about renting a tux? A large number of proms and graduates are this time of year. Do you think I'd be able to find one in time to a dance on May 19? I am particularly looking for one with great long coattails.Also do tux rental places top hats?
What you want is called "white tie" - the jacket (black) is a habit. Some places may call "tails outfit." This is the most formal dress codes of all men, and break when done right.
Most rental places have what you are looking for. May 19 does not seem too bad, although the location has not your style or size in stock, they can order it and have it in few days.
Top hats are a little trickier. It depends on who is in your area. I do not find mention of top hats off six or Men's Wearhouse websites. Formalwear Jim does have them. Here is a link to find a location near you:

If this does not work, press the costume shops in the city. (You probably do not need a high quality satin hat for the one night.)
And remember, your jacket should be black and your vest and bow tie should be white. Everything else with a coat will make you look either like a pimp or a butler.

Yes, you should have no problem. I went to rent mine just five days before my prom
and yes you can get a top hat, cane sugar, etc.
Yes, the best place is Men's Warehouse. This hat, I'm not so sure.
