Sprinkler Blow Out

Sprinkler Blow OutIs an air compressor with 19 gal. tank, enough for a sprinkler system at once for the winter?

A salesperson told me it must have a minimum 26 gal. tank.
I have 7 stations in my system. Thank you!

Blowing a sprinkler system requires a low pressure compressor which is at high volume. I doubt that 19 gallons unit do the job. Your best bet is to rent a commercial unit for half day, hang your system and areas of 5 minutes each. I would like to start the cycle at least twice to ensure that all the water out of lines. The money spent in doing good work saving you time and money next spring to replace the pipes and sprinkler heads.

I blow out the sprinkler system where I work each year with a commercial unit. You need volume, and compressor style tank does not do a good job of providing a sufficient volume of air to do a good job.

The size of the tank does not matter. So it puts out enough PSI. A small tank will just make the compressor more.

This is not the size of tank you need to worry, the seller is not brilliant. Your compressor should be able to save 10-25 CFM of air flow. Is the psi you want to watch. You need to regulate the air pressure to a maximum of 50 psi to blow your system.

You need a minimum of 20 CFM at 50 PSI. The CFM is what you need sprinklers for the winter. 25 cfm or more would be much better. I say to all owners of time, if you want to use the compressor in the garage / around the house, it is worth buying. If you're just going to hibernate your sprinklers, it will take many years for the compressor to pay for itself, and it will take up space the rest of the time.
