Keepsake Christmas Album Do you hate to throw away your Christmas cards away every year as much as I do? This year I decided to try to reach a way to preserve our Christmas cards and find a way to organize all the Christmas letters, I've been faithfully filing away for the last six years . I decided to make an album for our Christmas letters using cutting for decorating facades with Christmas cards this year.
I like cutting. It is so easy to make and so versatile. It is really hard to go wrong. I started by finding something to stick on Christmas cards. I had some dark red card stock (next paper in the office supply store) that seemed heavy enough to withstand all the gluing. Then I cut our Christmas cards in all different shapes and sizes. I cut little characters, scenes, greetings, signatures and even his relatives who had sent cards. I then placed the cutouts, overlapping each other on the paperboard, and began to apply the finish with a cutting.
There are several types of fine blanking available. You can find a variety at your local craft store. I have two different types: Plaid Royal Coat Antique Finish Cutting, Mod Podge Gloss-Lustre. The first gives an antique look like. The yellow paste when it dries, making your collage look aged. The more you use, the yellow he received. The Mod Podge dries clear. I used the antique finish and was very happy with the result. You use the line completely paste individual parts with a brush, then when you're finished (adding pieces here and there to fill the white spots), you brush a coat over the entire page. After it dries for about 10 minutes, you can apply another layer. I found that adding more layers make the pages more robust, more like an album cover, as I wanted. I had just enough cuts Christmas cards to cover two pages, one for the cover, and one for the back cover.
After the pages were dry, I used an awl to drill three holes in coverage. I decided to use vacation wide fabric ribbon to tie the covers together. In this way, each year, I could not take the bows and add new letters to my album. I used 2 wire satin half-inch wide ribbon (dark red). I liked the ribbon cable. It was easier to adjust the bows and looked really nice. It was also the remains of my holiday gift to this year, so I do not need to buy any additional costs.
When the covers were ready, I've arranged our Christmas letters from oldest to newest, and in all the holes between them. I then placed between the cover and insert the ribbon through the holes and big red bows bound to hold them together. I chose not to string ribbon through three holes just above and below.
I was really happy with how my memory of Christmas album turned out. It was easy, took only two hours to do, and I do not need to buy anything extra to do so. After buying the finish cut (about $ 5 a bottle), uses for this are almost limitless. You can apply to almost any surface, giving you the opportunity to create timeless memories in a variety of ways.
