An innovative real mode, Cristobal Balenciaga radically altered the silhouette of women's fashion in the mid-twentieth century. Balenciaga was born in the small fishing village of Guetaria in the Basque region of Spain on January 21, 1895. From his early years he spent many hours next to his mother as she worked as a seamstress. In his teens, the most important woman in his town, the Marquise of Casa Torres, became his patron and client, send it to Madrid for a training in sewing and proudly displays the results. In 1939, Balenciaga was praised in the French press as a force in revolutionizing the fashion world, with buyers and clients to fight for access to its collection. During the Second World War, customers were likely to travel in Europe for Balenciaga designs, including its famous dress in which the sleeve is cut in one piece with the yoke, and nothing shown in its unique color combination of lace black and brown or black over bright pink. In the post-war drawings Balenciaga has become simple and linear. The clothes he created was different from the popular hourglass shape that Christian Dior winding promoted with his New Look.
